The idea of “chance” has been popped up to my mind since few years ago. Yet it comes up again after I have a deep conversation earlier this month. Here I won’t talk what’s exactly we’re talking about, for you the person whom I can talk nearly about everything, I’m really grateful that you’re still putting up with lots of my “silly” questions. One thing that I learned is how our backgrounds affected our thoughts process. I’m quite surprised on how the conversation that I had opened my eyes so that I’m able to see things from other perspectives.
Please note that the post is mainly about my own thought process and this, by any means, isn’t trying to undermine others’ effort of reaching what they’d like to achieve.
To be able to get what I want to I need to have credentials, so they’ll trust me, however to get credentials I should have experience first.
Oftentimes, we heard or even experience this kind of situation where people wish to have a chance to do things and do it well, so they’ll get the experience and in turn able to do what they’ve always wanted to do.
Personally, I reflected on how my own journey so far with lots of failures along the way. There’s even a certain point in my life where I feel like I’m already used to this line:
Unfortunately, after careful consideration we have decided not to move forward with your application.
At the end of the day, talking with lots of people make me aware that probably the best privilege that I have is the “chance” that being given to me.
Some people start really early in their lifetime doing some things that in turn will give them more chances and privileges. There’s no one denying that they’ve worked hard too, the thing is not many people aware that they’ve also started earlier than most of their peers.
I think there’s nothing wrong with people complaining about how their backgrounds affecting their abilities to get the “chance” of getting something. Instead of bad-mouthing them probably giving some information about available chances will be more beneficial for them. After all, not all people aware of where they can find the information that they need in order to increase their probability of getting “the chance”.
Be kind as always
